The 44-page report, based on 500 documents and interviews with 53 employees, reported that 38 of those interviewed found her leadership to create a "toxic" workplace, with allegations ranging from using government employees for personal errands to drinking alcohol during work hours. Among the specific incidents cited were a chief of staff relocating an employee's desk to avoid seeing a "fat person" in the front office and directing staff to perform personal tasks, which violated government ethics regulations.

A report by the Department of Labor's Office of Inspector General alleges that former Labor Secretary Lori Chavez-DeRemer, appointed in January 2025 and resigned in April 2026, fostered a "toxic" work environment, drank alcohol during working hours, and made a staffer attend a strip club during a personal trip. The 38-page report, which drew on testimony from 38 witnesses, also claimed Chavez-DeRemer used agency funds for at least 13 personal trips, including five to Las Vegas, and created a hostile atmosphere marked by bullying and harassment among her aides. Additionally, it was reported that her aides, including two top staffers who left amid the investigation, engaged in discriminatory practices and sought to intimidate employees who spoke to the media.
